How to Set Up Repricing templates?

Updated 3 months ago by Adi G

Setting up a repricing template works on a case by case basis but it is also based on personal preference. Below you will find some options that have worked for us and other users in the past for repricing products.

1: The Waterfall Setup

A lot of sellers have Waterfall Setup to make sure high margin items are properly priced.

In this method, For example, say you have 100SKUs that have median price as 10$ and 50 SKUs with a median 200$.

A lot of experienced seller will split the reprice into two tranches, one for low margin and one for high margin.

Lower margin template will reprice aggressively against the lowest price while higher margin templates will reprice against buybox or some other heuristics that you choose to reprice against.

Some experienced sellers will further separate the template by inventory dates, because as the inventory ages we want the repricer to be more aggressive so in this particular example, people sometimes always have 4 templates and as inventory ages and prices drop, a different template applies.

2: Selective Blocking

If for repricing, consider that you choose the option to reprice against the lowest price for a particular ASIN

Now if a particular "XYZ Seller" drops the price of the product by $10, then unless you've set an ROI or price guards, the template shall target the lowest price. Why does this happen?

We occasionally see "XYZ Group" underbids all other sellers. It's possible that this particular is :

  1. Malicious and Underbiding people so he can buy your inventory cheap and turn a profit.
  2. They just want to wholesale their inventory due to personal reasons
  3.  They are using a Repricer without setting min guards OR waterfall properly

To avoid this in the future, you can take the following steps:

1: You can try blacklisting sellers who constantly underbid you for the product listing.

(WARNING: this solution will work against ONLY sellers you blacklist)

3: Set Higher ROI

Setting an ROI for the products ensures that while repricing the product makes AT LEAST the set Return On Investment.

In case of a seller who's further decreasing the Minimum price for a product and you've set for the product to be repriced against the Minimum price, then in such a case it does not go below the Set ROI.

4: Create different Tranches within a particular Category

While often users Simply categorize products as ones with a fair Salesrank that should be sold soon, and the others as probably Long Term Storage (LTS), even within each of these categories, you can further classify it into different tranches by setting up different minimum price, salesrank, and Inventory age:

While also setting up limits for repricing:

These are some of the most common repricing solutions. You can always custom design a solution that works for you. What can help to sell collectibles that you've listed on Amazon is Cross-listing it on eBay.

We're soon launching the option to Cross-list Amazon listings to eBay

This enables you with the power of 2 platforms to sell your product.
